Sample Excersizes: Life Balance Assessment
|
Life Balance Assessment Exercise Have you noticed that most of us, when pressed, feel a void in our lives? We seem to feel incomplete, not whole. What would life be like for you if you were to discover what was missing, and could fill that void with purpose and effectiveness? This is an exercise that you can use to find out why you aren’t completely happy, and what you can do about it. Get out a piece of paper. Draw a big circle on it; label it the “Circle of Wholeness”. Divide the circle into 5 pieces of “pie”. They don’t have to be exact, but should be roughly similar in size. Label each piece of “pie” with the following letters: “H”, “L”, “S”, “P”, and “E”. Now, looking at the piece labeled “H” (which stands for Health; the emotional, mental and physical vibrancy, energy and balance with which you currently operate in your life), give yourself a rating from “1” to “5”. A “1” is horrible, and a “5” is excellent; decimals are acceptable. Next, do the same rating for the following pieces of pie: “L” – which stands for Love: your oneness/connection to tangible entities in life, particularly people that are close to you. This category is not just how much you receive from those people or entities, but how much you generate toward them in your daily life with them. How much “Love” do you generate/receive (experience) in your life with others? – Rate it: 1 to 5. “S” – which stands for Spirituality. This is not to be confused with religion, (which is the process to access it for some people), but is not the actual state in itself. Spirituality is our connection to the infinite, the universal, to that thing which was here before we were born and will be here after we are gone, but which we will share a part of eternally. How much Spirituality do you practice, truly, in your thoughts, actions and being with other people in your daily life? How much Spirituality do you really practice, and not just talk about? Rate yourself 1 to 5. “P” – which stands for Purposefulness. This is the clarity of your personal purpose in life, your personal commitment to the highest gift that you have to offer the World in being here. How clear are you in what your individual purpose is, and how well are you living it? Rate yourself 1 to 5. “E” – which stands for Effectiveness. This is how masterfully you are growing and contributing toward an inspirational future in the various domains of your life (i.e. health, career, relationships, etc.). How well are you practicing Vision (Leadership), Process (Management), and Support (Coaching) in those areas to take ground toward what inspires you? Rate yourself from 1 to 5. Next, add up all of the scores. Here is the rating system: 21 to 25 = A whole life. 16 to 20 = A partially whole life. 10 – 15 = A partially empty life. 9 and under = An empty life. Next, look at your lowest area of the Circle of Wholeness and ask yourself these 4 questions: 1 – What is the barrier in my approach to life that is keeping me from having this area be a “5”? 2 – What would the breakthrough be to that barrier? 3 – What would the process be to create that breakthrough? 4 – How committed am I to overcoming this barrier, and if so, when will I to start that process? Once you do this for your lowest area, go to the next lowest area and begin executing your commitments to the processes that will create the breakthroughs, which will have your numbers move higher. Here is what will happen if you do this, continuously and for the rest of your life, in each successive area of your life. Commitments in one area will start the process, which will create the breakthroughs, which will move your number higher in that area. As your number moves up in that one area, other areas will begin to move higher in sympathetic osmosis or by reactive connection. I don’t know why, exactly, but they will. You will grow more fulfilled. You will conquer your limitations. You will stop blaming others, the past, or life circumstances for what isn’t working in your life. You will begin to look to the future for where you can make an impact, and stop holding yourself hostage to a past that you cannot change anyway. You will create true power in your life. You will create wholeness in your life. After you execute this process for yourself, sincerely and honestly, do the same for the people that you really care for in your life. Have a conversation with them and share this Circle of Wholeness with the people close to you. If you choose to do so you will be well on the way to Personal Mastery in your life, and in that is the possibility of your life’s fulfillment and purpose. It is how to be whole. It is how to be truly alive, and not just “not dead”. |
